I was recently using my Black MacBook and 17" PowerBook G4 with a PA System, when I tripped on the power cable to my MacBook. If it had been my PowerBook I would have been picking the pieces up from the floor, but my MacBook didn't even move an inch... Well done Apple - another MacBook safe.
I have saved mine twice so far.
When I first saw MagSafe being introduced, I thought Apple had overreacted to an almost non-existing problem but seems like I was wrong.
My MacBook has survived on several occations, as I seem to trip the power cord quite often. MagSafe has at least saved me from further problems twice...
How come all the Dells, HP's and Lenovos out there never got a similar feature? Laptops have been around for so long, it seems their engineers shouldn't have missed out after creating way too many models...

I was in class and a teacher just tripped frankly on my Macbook powercord... I saw it coming... but the truth is: the macbook didn't move from my table!!! It saved me quit a few times!

I dont like very much wires, i destroyed 3 power cords on my previous mac ... after multiple bad step accidents... most of the time the machine survived. Macs are strong beasts.
And definitly, I do love this mag-thing, i saw "virtual accidents" that never happen.

The new MagSafe saved my MacBook pro at least 3 times... Most of the time just basic tripping on the cable.
Just once for my MyBook (but my PowerBook G4 falled from 3 feets and works perfectly, almost no hurt so ...)
My macbook pro was saved 4 times. For 3 of those, it was my young dog who tripped in and the last, my sister...
Ok, karma--My MBP sits on my coffee table, with enough slack on the cord for me to pull it to my lap as needed. I got up to get some chinese take-out, and I managed to step on the slack, pulling out the MagSafe. Not five minutes later, I find your site on MacBytes.com
Oh, and chalk me up for three saves, because, yes, I'm a klutz, and this isn't the first time MagSafe has saved me from a very expensive meal.
I tripped on it going to the phone once. My friend bought a powerbook just a few months before and it now has a big dent on the back left corner near the power jack such that the power cable just barely fits. You have to push hard because it is deformed.

It's a great design and has saved my new MacBook Pro many times. That being said, Apple should consider a redesign. When I sit cross legged and try to use the laptop with the power connector attached, my left knee hits the magsafe connector and it come undone. I think I'd rather the connector be on the back side of the laptop if possible.

I remember there was a lot of talk about how the magsafe was a gimmick and had really limited real world functionality. Then the first weekend i had it my dad somehow managed to trip over the cord - number one time that it saved my laptop.
Number two was at a borders when some guy was cleaning up and got his broom or something caught up in it and decided the best thing to do was to yank it.
Number three was also my dad tripping over it in a rush to get to the phone.
So good.
Today I blessed Apple putting MagSfe on my 17" PowerBook instead it would be dead on the floor !

Sometimes my cord and power brick come from the front side of my desk, with the Macbook on an improvised iCurve (real one is coming soon)which is not very stable. I already tripped twice which would have resulted in a small catastrophe were it not for the Magsafe.
So in short: Magsafe saved me 2 times already
You should make a widget for the number of notebooks saved. It would earn itself a space on my dashboard then. : )
My MBP was saved during a class in a large lecture hall last week. As someone was fumbling their way across the aisle, they violently ripped out my cord. As a person who's had laptops crash to the ground before, my adrenal gland let loose. But the MBP was safe!

I was at school and kids were being jerks and mucking around. When I had my iBook G4, it almost flung off the desk, but now with my MacBook, it stayed right there and I didn't care about the cable, because I could pick it up once they had gone. :)

I just got a MacBook Pro and the first time I plugged it in, I let it charge as usual. Then the unthinkable happened... As I went to adjust the heat in my apartment, bam! I trip over the power cord. Needless to say, MagSafe really worked, and yet another Mac got saved by this breakthrough, as the power cord broke away cleanly while the computer stayed put on my desk.
When will another computer manufacturer even think about this and come up with their own magnetic power connection?

Sometimes Apple creates unbelievable useful things and that one was one of those.
My Late 2006 Core 2 Duo (1.83GHz, Merom) has been saved more than 17 times for the past 2 years in school
Clumsy students from other courses blindly tripping over the cable because they decided Apple notebooks were not worthy of being safe.
Blind lecturers who are more concerned on what's in front of them instead of under them.
And the story goes on.
If not for the MagSafe, i would probably have been on my 20th Macbook by now.

it just happend, OMG I so glad this thing exists.
Magsafe didn't save my macbook pro.
But two magsafe were defectives after 1-2 years!
This product is really a good idea, but so badly manufactured that it's only bring problems.

my Magsafe literally saves my Mac's life almost everyday. I guess I'm kind of clumsy

Macbook Pro saved Twice!
MBPro 15" on a desk, and a collection of storage boxes being moved around. After sliding a particularly-heavy one to a new location, I looked down to see the end of the MagSafe adapter caught under that box. I didn't even notice that it had popped free from the laptop, but the alternative would have certainly to have had the unit take a tumble onto the floor.
Truly a great - and often overlooked - feature.
